FAQs
What does an Accredited Practising Dietitian do?
An Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) is a qualified health professional who has completed tertiary education in nutrition and dietetics and has met the competency standards set by Dietitians Australia (DA). APDs provide evidence-based nutrition advice and support to individuals and groups in various settings, including hospitals, health clinics, aged care facilities, community organizations, sports teams, and corporate workplaces. They are trained to assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of nutrition-related health conditions and provide tailored dietary plans to meet their clients' specific needs and goals.
Do I need a GP referral to see a dietitian?
You don't necessarily need a GP referral to see a dietitian, as we are also available for self-referral. If you have a GP-referred plan (known as Chronic Disease GP Management Plans and Team Care Arrangements), you may be available for bulk-billed sessions if you have Medicare and are based in Australia.
How much is the fee for my session?
Our first appointment costs $120, and each following session costs $80. For Diet analysis, it will be $100 per report. We also offer a 12-week package if you would like to have some accountability. If you have a GP management plan, health care plan, or pension card, you may be eligible for bulk-billed sessions. For more information, please visit our Services page.
How many session will I need?
The number of sessions needed will depend on various factors, such as the specific goals of therapy, the nature of your concerns, your level of motivation and commitment, and the progress made in each session. Some individuals may benefit from just a few sessions, while others may require longer-term therapy. It is best to discuss your specific situation and treatment plan with your therapist to determine how many sessions may be needed.
Most clients found it useful to have two sessions, which included setting up a plan and reviewing progress. Once they build in confidence and commitment, continuing the dietary change as a habit is much easier.
How often should I come for the review?
Due to varying circumstances and goals, the time between sessions may vary from every two weeks to once a month. Because commitment levels differ, we aim for a timeframe that allows you to implement the strategies we discuss and return for a review to optimize the benefits of our sessions.
What resources will I get? Can I get a meal plan?
Requesting a meal plan is one of the most common inquiries we receive. However, for most people, it is difficult to follow a strict meal plan that fits their lifestyle, leading to lapses and unsustainable habits. Therefore, we suggest discussing one to three strategies that could work for you. This could include setting SMART goals or modifying your meals based on your diet history. In this way, everyone can have a personalized plan that takes into account their culture, lifestyle, and food preferences.
What is the difference between a 12-week package and a standard consultation?
Our 12-week package is designed for individuals who want to build or change their habits. We focus on behaviour change and aim to prevent any lapses. This package includes a starting guide and a recipe booklet to help you stay accountable during the program.
Our standard consultation offers more flexibility to suit your needs. Whether you want to learn more about food choices or ensure that your food aligns with your health goals, we are here to help. As this consultation is not solely focused on behaviour change, only recipes will be provided.

What if I need to cancel the appointment?
We understand unexpected circumstances may occur. Our cancellation policy requires a minimum 24-hour notice. A 50% cancellation fee is applicable for no-shows with no notice. If you are unwell or unable to attend on the day, please contact us, and we will be happy to reschedule.
